Report on intercollegiate activity
On 1st March 2025, the Department of Botany and Department of Zoology at Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK), in collaboration with Kohima Science College (KSCJ) Jotsoma, organized an intercollegiate activity focused on the Demonstration of laboratory instruments. The primary objective of the event was to provide both students and faculty with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge laboratory instruments and explore their practical applications in education and scientific research. This initiative aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enabling participants to understand the functionality, calibration, and operational techniques of modern scientific tools.
The session was chaired by Dr. Patricia Kiewhuo, Head of the Department of Zoology at DBCK. Dr. Neilazonuo Khruomo, Head of the Department of Botany at DBCK, delivered the formal felicitation address, acknowledging the collaborative effort between DBCK and KSCJ.
Special notes were presented by Dr. WenyitsoKapfo, Head of the Department of Botany at KSCJ, and Dr. AnunglaPongen, Head of the Department of Zoology at KSCJ, who shared their perspectives on the integration of modern scientific instruments into their respective disciplines.
Following the opening session, participants proceeded to their respective departmental laboratories, where they were engaged in interactive demonstrations of advanced laboratory instruments, including microscopes, spectrophotometers, and centrifuges, among others. These hands-on sessions provided an invaluable opportunity for practical learning.
The laboratory demonstrations were followed by a light refreshment session, offering a chance for informal interactions between faculty and students.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lirikum Jing, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, DBCK. Dr. Jing expressed profound gratitude to KSCJ and all participants for their active involvement, which contributed to the overall success of the event.
