Tsahyok-Nyi Festival

 

The department of political science, BA 4th  Sem (Sec: c), Don Bosco college kohima, organized a program in celebration of the Tsahyok–nyi festival, a significant festival of the Tikhir tribe on 23 January 2025 in the respective classroom (NF2) 

The celebration of the Tsahyok-nyi in the classroom was chaired by Mhao (CR) of the class and was followed by an invocation from Krelo Pforoni who invokes God’s blessings about this festival specially to our Tikhir brothers and sisters. Various students participated, Nzano read the words of God and Loino shared the quote of the day in this program.

Aloboto Swu has highlighted to us about this Tsahyok-nyi, who shared that Tsahyok–nyi festival is one of the significant festival of the Tikher tribe. He further shared that this festival is a preparation of the year ahead, owing to sowing of the seeds. During this time, the seed are dedicated and sanctified ensuring a fruitful and blessed cultivation. He also states that it is only after this festival the cultivators sow the seed in their field and most importantly it is a festival celebrated by women only.

The program further proceed with the vote of thanks by Priscilla and the college anthem. The overall program was conducted successfully.
